I've been enormously lazy lately in the knititng/blogging department. So this might be a long and photo-heavy post. I'm making up for my blog sabbatical.
First I'll tell you about the recent FO's.
There's another finished Ribby Pulli, but I've been too shy to model it or even wear it outside. I'm dubious about it, actually. I act like I'm very proud of it, but in reality - not so much. Most of the problem has to do with the enormous scooped neck. I thought it would be sexy, since I've got the "girls" for that type of sweater. In reality, that scooped neck makes me extremely self-concious. Plus, I haven't had a good occasion to wear it. So we'll see. I should at least take a pic for the blog. I know.
I have a new Chevron scarf that I feel the exact opposite about. I <3 this scarf! It's comfortable, matches most of my wardrobe, and wraps around me like a warm security blanket. I wear it even if it's only slightly chilly outside. That's how much I love it.

I used just slightly more than half of a skein, each, of STR Lightweight in Mustang Sally and STR Mediumweight in Moss Agate. It's extremely long and nearly goes down to my knees. I have enough yarn to make another, slightly shorter one.
In no particular finishing order, next is a pair of Fetching fingerless gloves. This was an instant gratification project. I finished these in just one day.

These are "Ravenclaw" colors from the HP books/movies. The yarn is Rowan Cashsoft 4-ply, held double, in colors #431 (navy) - 2 balls and #425 (gray/silver) - 1 ball. The pattern is super easy and well written!
The last of the knitted FOs is the Felted Sushi Wallet from Pick Up Sticks. I bought it on opening day of my friend's LYS, Bobbin's Nest Studio. I <3 this store! Not only do they have a nice selection of yarn, but they have sewing and embroidery supplies and Amy Butler Frabric!

The wallet is more of a large coin purse or clutch than a wallet. It's nice to just take it into the grocery store instead of my entire bag. (GASP! I know, leave the knitting in the car! WTF?!) But it's a lot less to keep track of, especially in Trader Joe's, where it's always so crowded and I end up leaving my cart often and squeezing past people to grab that last can of organic diced tomatoes. You know what I mean if you shop at Trader Joe's. Anyway, another very quick knit. Pretty easy to follow and after my recent embroidery classes, the zipper gave me hardly any problems at all!
And speaking of sewing and embroidery...
Back in August Hannah and I took an embroidery class at Yarn Paper Scissors, another great LYS + Sewing shop!
On top is my sampler and my 1st project. Below that is Hannah and our teacher, the shop owner, Amy. We had a fabulous time until I was lured into the Sewing Room with the Amy Butler Fabrics and embroidery books. Oy! I came home with a handful of Sublime Stitching Patterns and stayed up until 3am to finish my tea towel. See?
And here's my most recent one with patterns from the Sublime Stitching Book.
I also started my first sewing project around the time of the embroidery class... an Amy Butler Apron, but it's not done yet.
When Bri found a pair of red glittery flats at the Goodwill, sometime in late August, she decided that she wanted to use those shoes as the center piece of her Halloween costume this year. So guess who she went as? And guess who offered to sew her costume?! What a stupid thing to do. But, you never know until you try. Right?
I did it and Bri was Dorothy for Halloween! Yayayayayay!
After writing about what I've been doing for the past month, I guess I realized why I haven't blogged. I've been hella busy. Not to mention, all of the non-crafting things I've been up to like reading (see right sidebar) and trying out new things in the kitchen. I guess I should take time and write about these things more because it really gives me an astonishing sense of accomplishment to see my projects here, in black and white.
Well, I'm off to work on more stuff so I can have something else to blog about. Thanks for sticking around, even though my communications have been sporadic, at best.
